Lady Dragon Softball swept their final two games of the Bryan College Station Tournament, first defeating Midlothian 11-7 on Saturday morning and then completing the double header sweep with a victory over Bryan 13-3.
Game one was a nip and tuck affair until the 4th inning. Tied at five apiece Gaby Garcia lifted a two-run homer out of the yard to give SLC the lead for good. The onslaught continued, still in the 4th inning, as the Lady Dragons took advantage of speed. With Katie Gee at the plate, the Lady Dragons plated a run on a stolen base. Then Gee ripped an RBI double herself to cap the huge inning. More offense occurred in the 5th when after four singles, (stop me if you have heard this before) Katie Gee doubled to cap a four run inning.
Brooke Martin picked up the win in relief to notch her first win of the year.
Game two had none of the back and forth drama of game one as SLC, 3-3, simply blew out the host Bryan 13-3. The ten run victory started routinely enough as the Lady Dragons plated two in the first. The second inning however ended the competitive phase of this game as the Lady Dragons scored five to bolt to a 7-1 lead after two innings.
The Lady Dragons had fifteen hits in game two as Gaby Garcia, Elizabeth Egel and Riley Carter all had multiple hits. Garcia went a perfect 4-4 in this game. The beneficiary of all this run support was junior Lauren Long who picked up her second win on the year.
Up next its the first mid-week game of 2018 as the Lady Dragons take on Arlington Martin in Arlington on Tuesday, Feb. 20th at 7pm.
