It is March after all and in a month that is all about survive and advance, that is exactly what Dragon Soccer did tonight. They hosted their home finale vs. Byron Nelson and needing a win to clinch the 4 seed the Dragons defeated the Bobcats 2-1.
Knowing the scenario entering the game, that SLC had to win to clinch the 4 seed, they led early 1-0 on a goal by Robi Pino, only to see Nelson knot the game at a goal apiece. Then following a red card to Nelson, Pino struck again with the season's most important goal to date to give the Dragons the 2-1 margin.
Now, SLC waits to find out their playoff time and site. They finish with a 11-6-5 regular season mark and 6-5-3 in district 5-6A.
We know that as a 4 seed, SLC will face a 1 seed in the first round at a time and site TBD.
