The new era of Dragon Soccer started before any of the rest of us were back to work. First year head man, Aaron Cottrell, guided the squad to three wins this weekend at the Richland Tournament.

They began the season with a 3-1 victory over a perennial playoff team in Arlington Bowie. Coach Cottrell has a new tradition for Dragon Soccer, awarding a "Man of the Match" after each victory. The man with the honor for the first match of the 2019 season was Preston Myers who had one goal and one helper on the day.

The Bowie game was a nice start to the season to be sure but things only got better against fellow 5-6A District opponent V.R. Eaton. The team shutout Eaton 6-0 and as if collecting his first shutout on the year wasn't enough, Goalie Harrison Pustilnik had a goal in the match. Every goalie's fantasy. Pustilnik split Man of the Match honors with Owen Harrison in that great win.

Two wins is a great way to start out the season but why not go for three? This is what SLC did on Saturday as they pitched their second consecutive shutout 3-0 over the Trojans from Trinity. Robbie Pino had 2 goals to earn the Man of the Match honors.

Way to start a new beginning!! Next up is the first mid-week match of the year as the team takes on Arlington Sam Houston at Dragon Stadium on Jan. 8th.
