When is a team that enters the Class 6A State Soccer final with one loss considered an underdog? When they are facing a team with no losses, who Top Drawer Fab 50 had ranked as #1 coming into the match. But Lady Dragon Soccer took less than 10 minutes to dispel expectations when Taylor Tufts took a through ball from Kendall Gilpin and ripped a shot toward the Katy Tompkins goal keeper. It was blocked by the Tompkins wall but Madi Drenowatz was there for the easy tap in off a juicy rebound. No one knew it at the time but that was the game winner. You will hear Madi Drenowatz 's name again - a lot!

Less than two minutes later it was Drenowatz again with a helper and the assist went to Sarah Hornyak. At this point in a State Championship game you would normally be thinking - great, we are up 2-0, so put the sparkling ginger-ale on ice. But a glance at the board showed there was a lot of soccer to be played - as in there was only 13 minutes gone in the match. But SCLDS wasn't done in the match. Taylor Tufts would get on the board for what would turn out to be her final tally of her spectacular Lady Dragon career. Goal #3 of the half staked the Lady Dragons to a jaw dropping, teeth on the floor, 3-0 lead at the break.

Just after intermission our girl Madi D was back on the board again for her 3rd goal of the game. A HAT TRICK in the State Final her Senior year against an undefeated team. Hollywood would think the script too unbelievable. By the way the HAT TRICK ties Drenowatz for the most goals ever in a State Final. And her 4 goals for the weekend is believed to tie her for the most ever in a UIL State Tournament.

Up a seemingly comfortable 4-0, Sydney Nobles seemed to say but wait - I haven't scored yet and its my last game too. Let me pop one in and so she did.

Now the ladies had a handful of goals and it was really party time. All that was left was to make sure most played on this legendary team on the most special day. And for Head Coach Matt Colvin to try in vain to avoid the Gatorade bath.

This stupendous Lady Dragon group will go down in history next to the 2008 squad as the only two to capture a State Title in program history.

Post Match Notes: The Lady Dragons outscored their opponents 7-0 during the UIL State Tournament which is believed to be the best goal differential in UIL State Tournament history, although that will have to be verified next week.

The Lady Dragons allowed only 3 goals in the UIL playoffs while scoring 29 and finished 28-1-2.

Incredible doesn't begin to describe this season. Thank you Lady Dragon Soccer the new Class 6A State Champions!!
