Before most of us were out of bed Saturday morning, like 5am, the Dragon and Lady Dragon Cross Country teams were busy sweeping their home cross country meet. Apparently when it comes to top flight 1st place finishes Dragon Cross Country doesn't share. Because they won 1st in all four major categories Saturday morning at The Southlake Invitational at Bob Jones Park.

For the Dragon Elite Varsity division the team was led by Nate Lannen who finished in silver medal position individually with a time of 15:35. He was followed closely by Tim McElaney in 11th at 16:17, Antonio Florcruz in 13th at 16:19 and Solomon Chavez in 14th at 16:19.

In the gentlemen's Varsity division the Dragons were led by Grant Anderson who took top honors as an individual and obviously when your top runner wins the meet then your team has an inside track toward winning the team title in your division. The team also had another individual medalist as Logan Schaunaman took 3rd and Mason Alexander took 5th.

So much winning takes patience to read because we haven't even gotten to the success of the Lady Dragons yet. They also swept the two top divisions as the Lady Dragon Varsity Elite squad took 1st led by Jenna Holland with a bronze medal finish in 18:25. Kaylie Cox took 5th in 18:54 and Alexa Karmis headed up a squad of closely bunched Lady Dragons from 11th back to 15th as Tatum Foreman finished 12th at 19:13 and Abigail McIlvain was 14th with 19:13 and Lydia Lo finished 15th at 19:17.

The winning kept going as Lady Dragon Varsity took more trophies finishing in 1st place led by Ava Bushaw in 2nd and Nikoletta Shockley finished in 19th followed closely by a victorious pack of Lady Dragon teammates.

Up next the squad splits as the top fourteen runners go to Corpus Christi and the Javelina Invite while the rest of the squad goes to the Coppell Meet on Saturday, Sept. 14th.
