Lady Dragon Volleyball opened district play on Friday night at home vs. Timber Creek. While you might have been fighting through the rain drops for other activities, the weather is always great in the gym.

A raucous crowd of LDVB supporters saw their team leap out to a 1-0 lead with a dominating 25-9 first set win. The Falcons rallied back in the second set and forced the Lady Dragons to gut out an overtime set win 26-24, before finishing the quick sweep 25-18.

SLC (27-5, 1-0) was led in both kills and blocks by sophomore middle blocker Annabelle Smith with 9 kills and 4 blocks. Fellow sophomore Natalie Glenn and junior Dani Pena shared the team lead in aces as each had 3 of the team's 8. Kendall Gilpin led a strong defensive effort with 19 digs.

The Lady Dragons next take on Denton Guyer on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 11th at 6:30pm.
