Dragons earn District Title in the pool

The road to state has begun and the powerhouse that is Southlake Swimming/Diving took the first step this weekend at the 5-6A district meet hosted at the Carroll Aquatic Center.

Both the Dragons and Lady Dragons captured outright District titles in the pool and on the springboard. Diving got the meet started as the Lady Dragon Dive team captured the top 3 spots. Hailey Hernandez took the 5-6A title with a total score of 521.75 points while Bridget O'Neil finished in 2nd place with 491.90 points and Allison Ward earned 3rd with 452.60 points. The Dragons also took 1st as Jackson Miller took the district title with 482.05 points and Phillip Kleiman took 2nd with 400.05 points. Reid Klein finished in 5th place with 309.25. All these divers advance to Regionals.

In the pool the Dragons captured the district title with a team score of 233 while the Lady Dragons also took 1st place with an overall team score of 214.5. The Lady Dragons withstood a tough challenge from Flower Mound who finished with 161.

District Girl Diver of the Meet: Hailey Hernandez Carroll

Diving Coach of the Meet was our very own Carolyn Hryorchuk.

Swimmers who advance will now spend next week preparing for the UIL Region 2 meet at Lewisville Westside Aquatic Center.

The Swim/Dive teams, with their pair of district titles earned 8 Lone Star Cup points this weekend, 4 for the Dragons and 4 for the Lady Dragons!
