Anybody who thought tonight's Lady Dragon/Flower Mound matchup would be a cruiser of a game doesn't know their soccer history. As recently as three years ago, Flower Mound entered the playoffs as a 4 seed and rode a magic carpet ride all the way to a state title. So that is why when the Lady Jags leveled the game at one midway through the first half, after Taylor Tufts had opened the scoring with her first moment of brilliance, Lady Dragon fans must have been feeling a little bit uneasy.

The upset bug wasn't floating in the air, was it? Who on this Lady Dragon team would step up at the most critical moment of the season? Why our 9th grader of course. Hanna Khan delivered the game winner just before the first half buzzer and the Lady Jags upset balloon was popped as LDS would go on to score 3 second half goals. Two of those goals were by Tufts to complete her Hat Trick. One gaol was by Madi Drenowatz and GK Madi Martin stood on her head to keep the Lady Jags from having a glimmer of hope midway through the final stanza.

If you just look in the paper tomorrow and see the 5-1 final you will miss the point. This was a total team effort including a huge goal in a pressure packed moment. The team awaits the winner of the Duncanville/SGP matchup at a site and time to be determined. Note - the team improved to 22-1-2 and wins a bi-district play off game for the 21st consecutive year.
