The Dragon and Lady Dragon Cross Country teams were back at their usual spot on Thursday morning - the top two spots in the standings -as they hosted the District 4-6A meet at Bob Jones Park.

The Dragons took home individual first place honors on the boys elite varsity race as junior Caden Leonard won the meet with a time of 14:33 . Freshman Kai Gutierrez took 6th at 15:12 and sophomore Jaxon Glenn came in 10th at 15:27.

The Lady Dragons finished second in the elite varsity race, just behind Byron Nelson. The Lady Dragons were led by sophomore Abigail Perez who came in 4th at 17:41. Seniors Elizabeth Smits came in 11th at 18:21 and Sarayu Velour came in right behind her in 12th at 18:22. Sophomore Grace McIlvain placed 14th at 18:30 and junior Luna Gutierrez round out the scoring in 17th at 18:46.

Head Coach Justin Leonard made it very clear that the preseason is over and now it is time for titles. "Today marked the district meet, kicking off our championship season. I'm truly excited about the direction our teams are heading with the regional meet coming up. I also want to express my gratitude to our seniors for their significant contributions in shaping our teams."

After a week of practice the Dragons and Lady Dragons will return to action at the Region 1-6A Championship meet in Lubbock on October 21st.
