He is spending this summer as a fill-in studio host for Texas Rangers baseball and fulfilled a similar role for TCU football and men's basketball in 2022-23. Chris is also the analyst for TCU soccer and enters his first season doing play-by-play for Horned Frogs women's basketball in 2023-24.
Now a podcast producer at NewsRadio 1080 KRLD, Chris got his professional start as a play-by-play broadcaster for the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks, where he also called the Corpus Christi ISD football game of the week. He has covered news and sports on digital, print, and broadcast platforms for NBC 5, SportsNet New York, MLB.com, and the New York Yankees.
Chris lives in Carrollton with his wife Lindsey and two dogs, Gus and Maggie. In what spare time he does have, you can catch him on a bike at CycleBar in Southlake, where he has taught classes for three years.
Robert Clayton (Carroll Grad Class of ’00) joins the Dragon Sports Network as the color commentator for Carroll Football in 2023.

Dragons may remember Robert from his playing days in the late 90’s as the Center for the Carroll Dragon Football Team. Robert was a former 3-year starter, Team Captain, C-Award winner, All-State, and Dave Campbells Super Team offensive lineman. Robert rated as a top 80 overall prospect and top 10 offensive lineman recruit in Texas across all classifications his senior year.  After graduating from Southlake Carroll, Robert went on to be a 4-year letter winner, 3-year starter, and Team Captain for the University of Texas-El Paso. Recently, Robert’s 2000 WAC Championship Team was inducted into the UTEP Hall of Fame, an honor he shares with his brother Carey (Carroll Grad of ’96).  After college, Robert spent time with the AFL’s Arena 1 Austin Wranglers.

Now, you can find Robert training young lineman; passing his knowledge onto the next generation through 5thQuarter Performance located at TxFit in Southlake which Robert owns. Robert also helps lead local, family-based Clayton & Clayton Real Estate in residential resale of homes in Southlake. Robert is very active in the Dragon Community, co-chairman of the Annual Dragon Classic Golf Tournament, serving as a Board Member to the Dragon Touchdown Club, and is Vice Chairman of the Carroll Athletics Hall of Honor. On Saturdays you can find Robert on a sideline somewhere helping coach Dragon Youth Football or traveling to his nieces’ and nephews’ collegiate games.

Robert resides within Carroll ISD with wife, Taylor (Carroll Grad Class of ‘09).  They have one daughter in heaven Alexandra Claire Clayton, and two dogs Dixie & Tex.
