The Fall championship season is here and Carroll Cross Country got it kick started by winning the District 4-6A championship for the 16 consecutive year!

4-6A has been said by some in cross country circles to be "the fastest district in the country." And if Thursday morning was an indication they just might be right.

Carroll Senior All American leader of the pack, Caden Leonard, made his season debut Thursday and, well, did Caden like things. He took first place individually with a time of 14:29 which is a meet and course record, according to Carroll Cross Country media release. This wasn't all just Caden's show however as Kai Gutierrez was just behind him at 14:37 and Michael Fuller finished in bronze medal position at 14:48, giving the Dragons as 1,2,3 finish!!
Caudio Auns (15:11), Grant Norgart (15:14), Jaxon Glenn (15:17) and Evan O'Donnell (15:35) concluded the Dragons day.

The Lady Dragons also had a strong day finishing second just behind Byron Nelson with Luna Gutierrez finishing in Silver at 17:29. Megan Bergman came in 7th at 17:51 followed by Abigail Perez in 19th at 18:00, Grace McIlvain 11th at 18:01 and Nora Fraden in 25th at 19:14.

Head Coach Justin Leonard stated that he was really proud of the way all our teams competed. He said Carroll Cross Country prides itself on being able to compete and perform when it matters most. He continued saying "I'm excited to see where this year takes us and really appreciate this year's senior class for all of their leadership and guidance to the underclassmen."

Up next, Carroll has a week of practice before packing up and heading to Lubbock for the Region 1 6A meet in two weeks.
