It is the most wonderful time of the year for Carroll Cross Country as the post season journey continues with the rarest of all feats - a Tuesday Cross Country meet. In Lubbock. At the Region 1 Cross Country Meet.

Dragon and Lady Dragon Cross Country continued their legendary dominance at the Region 1 meet as the Dragons captured the Region 1 title for the 8th consecutive year and will be making their 16th consecutive state appearance overall. The Lady Dragons finished 2nd at the Region 1 meet and will be making their 29th consecutive state appearance, which extends their state record for most consecutive state appearances!

Senior, All American runner, Caden Leonard captured the individual meet title as well, for the 3rd consecutive year, with a time of 15:03 followed by Sophomore Kai Gutierrez at 15:13 in 3rd place. Junior Jaxon Glenn came in 9th at 15:32, Senior Michael Fuller came in 17th at 15:51 and Junior Claudio Auns came in 26th at 16:04.

The Lady Dragons were led by Senior Luna Gutierrez who came in 9th at 18:20. Junior Megan Bergman came in 20th at 18:43, Junior Grace McIlvain came in 27th at 18:54, Junior Abilgail Perez came in 39th at 19:24 and Junior Quinn Salstrand came in 46th at 19:34.

Head Coach Justin Leonard said his Dragons and Lady Dragons are ready for the state meet on Nov. 1. He says "We are so proud of the way our Dragons performed today at the Region 1-6A meet in Lubbock! It takes a true team effort, dedication, and heart to punch your ticket on such a challenging course. Every runner contributed and their hard work all season long truly showed today."

Up next the Dragons and Lady Dragons have their final week of UIL training for 2025 before heading to Old Settler's Park in Round Rock on November 1.
