Byron Nelson got to round three by patenting the dramatic playoff comeback. The Dragons took a whole 1/2 inning to end game 2 and any thoughts of a winner take all game 3.

The Dragons, 29-6, scored all their runs in the first two innings tonight in the Region 1 Quarterfinal game 2 vs. Byron Nelson at Dragon Field. SLC scored three runs in the 1st inning. After the lead off man popped out to the 2nd baseman, Adam Stephenson was hit by a pitch. Cole Johnson then singles, Nik Millsap doubles and Will Quillen triples and presto the Dragons are up three. Byron Nelson might have thought, no big deal we came from behind six last week. The Dragons simply said wait until you see our 2nd inning. In the 2nd the Bobcats actually appeared to have rebounded nicely, retiring the first 2 batters in order and getting a ground ball from Cade Bell which very well could have ended the inning, except for an error. What would transpire in the rest of the frame would end the game. After Bell reached on the aforementioned error, Adam Stephenson tripled, plating Bell. Cue up ColeJ who lofts the ball deep into left field which dents the scoreboard. And the Dragons are upon 6-0. But they weren't finished. Nik Millsap said I like home runs and hit one himself. 7-0 after 2 innings. Which is plenty for a pitcher who enters the game 9-0.

NIcco Cole, the Howard College bound senior, struck out 10, walked one and gave up just 2 measly runs while picking up his 10th win to improve to a perfect 10-0 on the 2018 campaign.

With the 7-2 victory tonight, the only thing still to be determined on this night is who the Dragons will play next weekend. Both Timber Creek and Odessa have split their 2 games and the Dragons will play the winner of that series.
