Carroll Cross Country continued its national portion of the schedule last weekend traveling to Norco, California for the 39th Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic.

The Elite Varsity Girls finished 2nd and Elite Varsity Boys finished 3rd. The Varsity Lady Dragons also had a top 3 finish while the Varsity Dragons finished in 9th place.

The Elite Varsity Ladies actually tied for 1st but took 2nd due to the tie-breaker rules. The squad was led by Kaylie Cox in 19th. The Elite Varsity Boys were led by Nate Lannen, also in 19th.

Head Coach Justin Leonard was extremely proud with the way his team ran in California against some of the top squads in the nation. "Our Boys and Girls teams performed really well and represented our program and Texas on a big stage. Running against national caliber individuals and teams will pay off when it matters the most. Our focus remains on a championship season, but placing 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, and 9th was a big accomplishment."

While the Elite squad is off next week the team will be busy hosting its second meet of the season at Bob Jones Park when they host the Carroll Dragons Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Sept. 28th.
