All a part of your complete Thanksgiving brought to you, at least partially, by Dragon Football.

If you were looking for a down to the wire playoff nail bitter there were plenty of other games to check out this weekend. The match up of 12-0 Southlake Carroll vs. West Texas' best 6A offering of Midland Lee, 11-1, took about one possession to decide the outcome.

Carroll took the game's opening toss, and Midland Lee's best defensive play came on the game's opening play, as they sacked quarterback Quinn Ewers. This lead to what they thought was a three and out. But Riley Dodge reached into his bag of tricks delivering a direct snap to linebacker Graham Faloona on a fake punt. Faloona reached out for a first down leading to a touchdown sparking drive. The Rebels never truly recovered from the special play as the sophomore QB Ewers would lead touchdown drives on his next three possessions.

After Ewers found the end zone for himself on the 14 yard rush he delivered a pair of strikes to Blake Smith and one to Brady Boyd. During the middle of this offensive onslaught junior wide receiver Brady Boyd went all NFL on the Lee defense making one of the greatest playoff catches most can remember. He arched high into the air and came down with a one handed catch to set up a touchdown two plays later.

Not to be left out of the offensive party, freshman running back Owen Allen had 116 yards and a touchdown to go with Ewers' 25-30 passing for 357 yards. Three of Ewer's four touchdowns passing on the day went to senior tight end Blake Smith who proved un-defendable on this night. The one time quarterback has proved to be a valued target for the Dragon offense.

This win sets up the rematch everyone has anticipated all year as Carroll, 13-0 will face defending Region 1 champion Duncanville, also 13-0 and ranked #1 in the state according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football. The match up will come at 2:30 pm on Saturday, Dec. 7th at McKinney ISD Stadium. It is the third straight year the Dragons have reached the Region 1 final which means each year the seniors have reached at least the fourth round of the playoffs.
