Ok, the holiday season was a couple of months ago, but for your Dragon Swim team you can excuse them if they are walking up and down the hallways singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" because it is the championship season for Dragon Swim/Dive.
Your Dragons and Lady Dragons are, well, dominating the pool like they do as the Lady Dragons captured the Region 1 championship in Midland this week and the Dragons earned state qualification with their second place finish.
The defending state champions Lady Dragons took top Regional honors with a team score of 569 while the Lady Indians from the other side of 1709 came in second with a team score of 331. The defending state champions Dragons reversed the finishing order as Keller took top spot in the Region 1 meet with a score of 455 and Carroll had 349.
The Lady Dragons will send 9 swimmers and 1 diver to state while qualifying all three relay teams for the UIL state meet in 2 weeks. They took first in the 200 medley relay, the 200 free relay and the 400 free relays.
The Dragons will qualify 7 individual swimmers to state and all three relay teams, taking 2nd in all three relays - the 200 medley, the 200 free and the 400 free.
You can make your reservations now if you haven't already. The Dragons and Lady Dragons are headed back to their home-away-from-home - the Joe Jamal Swim Center in Austin, Texas for the UIL 6A State Meet on Feb. 17 & 18.
