Texas Tech football coach Joey McGuire once famously said "everything runs through Lubbock." Well for the Dragon and Lady Dragon Cross County team the phrase is this - Every year we dominate in Lubbock and qualify for state.

Yesterday at the Region 1 Cross Country meet in Lubbock, Texas the Dragons and Lady Dragons swept the Region 1 6A meet to advance to the UIL State meet in Round Rock in 2 weeks.

It is the 27th consecutive year for state qualification for the Lady Dragons - yes you read that number right - not a typo - TWENTY SEVEN consecutive years for your Lady Dragon Cross Country Team!

The Dragons won the Region 1 title for the 6th consecutive year and qualified for the UIL State meet for the 14th consecutive year.

On an individual basis Caden Leonard won his 2nd consecutive post season meet individually. He was the individual gold medalist at district and now at Regional finishing in a time of 15: 12. On the Lady Dragon side the Ladies were led by Alexandra Walsh who finished 3rd with a time of 17:52.

Coach Leonard is looking forward to the state meet saying "I'm really proud of our young men and women. This is always such a tough region, and our runners rose to the challenge. The boys are excited to have the opportunity to defend their state championship again and the girls are looking forward to competing for a state title of their own."
