On Friday the Gatorade Corporation announced Carroll Sophomore Cross Country runner Caden Leonard as the Texas High School Gatorade Boys Cross Country Player of the Year.
The full press release is contained in the link above. Caden became Carroll's first ever individual State Champion while helping lead the team to the overall state title as a sophomore. He becomes the second Carroll Cross Country runner to receive this award.
In addition to his individual and team state championship Leonard finished third and First Team All-Region at the Nike South regional championship.
Leonard is widely regarded as the top sophomore runner in the country, according to Gatorade.
He is also the second Carroll athlete to receive a Gatorade Player of the Year award within the last year. Kennedy Fuller, Girls Soccer, received the award twice.
