The boys are back in town! Dragon Baseball kicks off a twelve game home stand this afternoon at 1:30pm when they take on Houston Memorial in the opener of the Five Tool Baseball Festival.
The 26 team tournament will take place over three days at multiple sites. The Carroll pod of the tournament features some of the best amateur baseball in the country this weekend. While Memorial may be best known for their famous alumni with the last name Clemons, this year's squad is serious. They possess three of the best outfielders in the state of Texas who are all power bats.
The Dragons will enter game one of this weekend's action with a 4-2 record after picking up victories over traditional state power house and perennial state title contender Rockwall Heath 4-1 and San Antonio Brandeis 1-0. The Dragons also picked up victories over East Central and Monterey.
After taking on Memorial this afternoon the Dragons draw one of the ten out off state teams in Queen Creek, Arizona who finished second in the top classification in Arizona last season, losing in the state title game. They boast three D1 commits on their roster. We are talking serious college programs like Vanderbilt and Arizona State.
You might not know it by the weather today but it is baseball time in Texas! The rest of the weekend is going to be beautiful so check back here for updates and head out to Dragon Field to catch some of the top talent in the country this weekend. Coach Vucan has asked us all for a "playoff like atmosphere" to show what Texas baseball is really all about.
Are you super fired up? Here is how you get tickets.
