When you travel to California you know regardless of the sport you are going to be taking on some of the best competition in the country. That is certainly the case in cross country and it is also true that prime time players or in this case prime time runners show out at night.

The Lady Dragons and the Carroll Dragons were no exception Friday evening as they traveled to Cali to compete in the Woodbridge XC Classic.

The Lady Dragons took top honors for the school finishing 2nd in the "sweepstakes" division, while the Dragons finished in bronze medal position.

The Lady Dragons were led by junior Alexandra Walsh who finished 4th overall just off the individual podium with a time of 16:03. Following her was Ava Bushaw in 15th at 16:20 then Audrey Dunn in 26th at 16:42.

The Dragons were paced by senior Logan Cantu with a time of 14:20 and finishing 20th overall. Zach Troutman came in 42nd at 14:35 and Caden Leonard came in 50th at 14:43.

The trip was well worth it according to head coach Justin Leonard who stated that "our young men and women faced some of the strongest high school cross country teams in the U.S. tonight and they proved they could compete with the best of the best. They rose to the challenge and raced well."

Up next the cross country teams have a hard week of cross training before traveling for their final out of state meet of the year to the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville on Oct. 1st.
