Perhaps, never before, has Dragon Wrestling had a greater Saturday than on Saturday, Feb. 14th at the UIL State Championship. In addition to the two individual state titles, and third place team finish, and Dylan Ota being named 6A Wrestler of the meet, our Head Coach Joe Hathaway was inducted into the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association 2026 Hall of Honor.
Since, Coach Hathaway was too modest to mention this wonderful achievement, Shout Out to Mr. Floyd Ota, for the assist.
Coach Hathaway has been a member of the Wrestling Coaching profession for 17 seasons now, including 16 as our head coach here at CSHS. In his 16 seasons, Coach Hathaway has guided the Dragons and Lady Dragons to 15 district titles, including 12 straight. He holds a 229-43 overall dual record and has overseen 9 state championships, including the two earned Saturday. Coach Hathaway has been a 12-time District Coach of the Year and was named 2025 THSCA Regional Coach of the Year. He has served as the past president of THSWCA where he helped develop the current state duals format and was integral in developing wrestling safety protocols.
