It has been a while since a Lady Dragon Volleyball team faced a set as critical as the 5th set at home on Tuesday night vs. Keller. Coming off back to back loses to two of the state's top teams in Byron Nelson and Eaton on the road in five sets, the Lady Dragons needed a dramatic big win at home.

That is exactly what they got, with emphasis on the word dramatic. Things started off as routine as it gets with a 25-22 lid lifter. The second set set the tone for the craziness to come as the Lady Indians forced the Lady Dragons to extra points, but the ladies in green prevailed 27-25. A 2-0 lead means lets break out the brooms and get out of here early - oh not so fast!

The Lady Indians stormed back taking sets three and four by counts of 17-25 and 22-25. White knuckle time for set 5 and the Lady Indians would control the opening half of the final stanza, leading at the largest point 12-7 before an SLC timeout. It is at this point that the best Lady Dragons defense of the truncated 2020 season kicked in. The team fought off several match points with some brilliant back line play led by senior Keagan Polk with 28 digs to tie the match at 15. Remember set 5 normally ends at 15 so your ladies were working a little overtime.

Two brilliant kills by senior Natalie Glenn finished the match including a final tip which seemingly pinballed off the entire Keller team before reaching the floor. The last kill was her 22nd of the night to lead the team.

The Lady Dragons are now 7-3 overall and 4-2 in district at the regular season's half way point. The second half of district play begins Friday, Oct. 23rd at home vs Timber Creek at 5pm.
